Hi, I'm Melissa
Melissa has been interning with Heart to Heart from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine’s Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program. She will be joining us as our newest LPC-A in early summer! She recently passed her National Counselors Exam and is supervised by Denean Banister MEd, LPC, LPC/S.

Melissa brings a unique skill set to the team with years of experience in ABA therapy, behavior modification, and experience with navigating the intricacies of the Department of Social Services and custody situations. As a former foster child (and foster/adoptive parent) herself, she has a passion for working with families and children who have had DSS involvement, foster families, or families who are adopting or are post-adoption. She works from an Eclectic systems theory with a strong influence from family and person-centered therapies. She uses expressive arts in therapy sessions that can be anything from painting, music, creative writing, and so much more!

She believes it is such a privilege to help individuals work through their healing journeys whether they be family, grief, stress, anxiety, trauma, attachment, relational, or behaviorally related. Melissa works with children, teens, and adults, individually and as families.
When she is not studying and interning, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family or behind the camera lens capturing special moments for individuals and families in the Upstate!
“To know that someone trusts you with their most vulnerable moments is an honor and a privilege that I never take lightly. We all lose our way now and then and sometimes we just need a little support until we find our path again. I am proud to say that I get to be a part of moments like that! I look forward to meeting you!”
